SKINLAB Frontman Confirms Plans For DEFIANCE Reunion Show

August 6, 2004

SKINLAB frontman Steev Esquivel has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET that talks are underway for a reunion show by the long-defunct San Francisco Bay Area thrash band DEFIANCE. Esquivel joined DEFIANCE prior to the recording of their 1990 album "Void Terra Firma" and remained in the group until their split a couple of years later. "The guys have been talking about [doing a reunion show] and I have been approached to do it," Steev said. "It's kinda early in the development. We're all still alive, still friends so why not?! The date is not set, [and neither] is the venue. But it has The Musik Conspiracy in the works. If this happens, it would be a chance for us to get back on stage together. If I had my choice, I would like to see [original singer] Ken Elkinton get up there, too. [The debut album] 'Product of Society' was an awesome record, [especially the] production. But I think that's a long shot."

DEFIANCE released three albums through the Roadrunner label — 1989's "Product of Society", 1990's "Void Terra Firma", and 1992's "Beyond Recognition" — before undergoing major lineup changes (which included the addition of singer Dave (Godfrey) White of HEATHEN fame) and changing their name to INNER THRESHOLD. The group eventually split up, with various bandmembers going on to join other bands.
